As long as they stay cool and you change the water every 4 hours and use a good air pump. Oxygen is most important. The air pump bubbles provide the oxygen but the shrimp dirty the water after time with their excrement so you should change the water after a few hours. ALWAYS check your air to make sure the bubbles are at the bottom coming up. adjust as needed. Lost many shrimp in less than 15 minutes by the bubble stone came out of water.
I can carry a standard minnow bucket with 0ne quart of shrimp and fish for 14 hours straight with no problems in my kayak. If you have a larger container to keep them in the more water the better so you don't need to change all the time. You can add the Shrimp Buddies tablets you can get from Academy to give the water an oxygen boost to help also.
Good luck!

Only thing I'll add is if you want to put a little ice in your bucket, put it in a baggie so you don't lower the salinity of the water too much.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!

Need a little more info here. Are you fishing from a boat w/ a live well? or maybe from the bank, a rock walker, the surf etc. Either way, chg. water now and then, circulation, provide air or use an O2 system...a low flow regulator on the oxygen bottle is the norm.Set O2 flow on lowest mark and use a GOOD DIFFUSER that produces MICRO BUBBLES. Oxygen energizes the bait. I put a piece of shrimp netting in my boats live well. Shrimp need something to rest on and they will attched themselves to the net. If your using a cooler, use an aerator and change out water frequently as this keeps the water cooler than outside temps.

I use the aerated bait tank sold at academy, oval one in blue insulated bag. Handy pockets on the outside of it too.

Recently I stopped at the bait store and got a pint of live shrimp, and put them in a small styro cooler, with two frozen pint water bottles, to keep them cool and alive(hopefully). I put the cooler in my 12-foot skiff, and motored out to a prospective fishing spot. When I pulled the top off the cooler, all the shrimp were laying on the bottom, presumably dead, because the water in the cooler was very cold! I pulled the water bottles out, poured about half the water out and re-filled it with fresh bay water. In about fifteen minutes, several of the shrimp were swimming and a bit later, they were all swimming around, probably glad to have been brought out of the cryogenic coma I had put them in! Kinda funny, and educational in a way. But, they all gave their lives to dang hardheads and croakers. Didn't catch a keeper anything.

A little trick if your using a live well on a boat or even a bucket is to put an extra net in the water it gives them something to hold on to so they don't have to keep swimming they will latch on to the net and just lay there. I use to use a large star foam cooler as a live well for shrimp it also gave them something to hold onto. Oh yeah make sure it's a extra net you don't want to be putting your hands in the water only the net that will also help keep them alive.
