Hey all,

New guy here, love the fishing forum.. so much information, stories and photos.

My wife, Tracy and I moved from PA to TX about 2 years ago, we love it here!
I recently purchased a 10-foot pontoon bass boat and we took it out for the first time yesterday.

Well, the Wifey also caught her first monster bass! It was such an exciting, and unforgettable moment for us!

I setup Tracy with a spinning rod and Chatterbait, and before long she was fishing and placing the bait like a pro, impressive.
Funny, I kept telling her this is a big bass bait.

Soon after, she said "I think I have something?", then when I saw how much the rod bent and we watched that bass jump out of the water, the battle was on!
Simply amazing to watch! She was yelling and laughing, so excited! What a great experience for her! Something I will never forget, still cant believe it!:)

Once we got it inside the boat, I said to her you need to hold this bass! (first time holding a fish too!)
We took a few photos, and she gently placed the bass in the water and watched this giant slowly swim away..

Tracy then says "Wow that was an Adrenaline Rush!!! I knew how to release the bass from watching your fishing shows".
Told her that is what bass fishing is all about, and she caught a fish of a lifetime...So proud! smile

I did not have a scale at the time, definitely, getting one now. The bass was about 27-inches in length, maybe longer and estimated to weigh between 7 and 9 lbs., but in all the excitement, not sure!?

How much do you think the bass weighs based on the photo? Thanks everyone!

That's a nice fish! Tell her congratulations! As mentioned, I think it may be closer to 9 that you originally thought. Unless it was skinny.

Those $20 Rapala scales at Academy are always good to keep in the boat!

Thank you! I sent Tracy a link to the post so she everyone's responses.
She is so happy! smile

The bass was definitely solid!

We were at Lake Lavon.

I will pick up a scale and a ruler for sure, thanks for the recommendation.
Just got everything setup yesterday and we took the boat (BPS Pond Prowler equipped with a Minn Kota 55/36) out for a trial run.. nice stable, little boat that you can just put in the truck and go.

Congratulations Tracy. There is a chart to convert Inches to Pounds. 27" is a long bass.
bass_length_weight

It is not perfect but our club does paper tournaments with it and it has been pretty accurate on fish I have weighed and checked against it.

What a great fish!
At least 9lbs would be my guess.
