Any tips on what style of spinnerbait (blade/weight) and how you fish them. 15+ft

I bought some of the Ledgebusters a few years back and had some decent luck on them. Its definitely an art to fish them that deep. I have a LOT to learn.

I have probably had the most luck on a sk deep dweller I prefer 3/4 Oz and throw on a 5.1 gear I use to throw them on an old 3.8 gear reel that was awesome for deep spinnerbaits but it gave up on me.

Deep spinnerbait is a lost art!

D&M Sniper Spinnerbait

I've had my best luck on this spinnerbait. It comes in a 3/4oz-1.5oz and it'll stay down there in the depths no matter what. It also comes with big blades, which is good for attracting big fish. you won't get numbers on this bait but you'll definitely get quality! It's custom made so you know it has high quality components.

Revenge Deep Runner

Another option would be the Revenge Deep Runner. These come in 3/4oz-1 1/4oz. They come in several different colors and blade combinations. They're also made in the USA.

The best way to fish these baits is along a ledge or bumping over a deep brushpile. I like a slow retrieve, and when I bump in to cover, as soon as it hits, I snap the rod really hard to create a big disturbance. There's really no wrong way to fish this bait.

Not to hijack, but we're currently working on some specialized spinnerbaits for release later this year. One is to be for deep water applications. We'll be experimenting with blade sizes and arm length. What would y'all like to see in one?

Every deep water spot is different and many times calls for different techniques as well as the bait you are fishing. Lets start at the depths:
- Shallow ledges with good cover on top. I like to find these in about 12 to 15 ft. of water with grass and or bushes on top. This is the ideal spot of course and many baits not just the spinner bait will get the job done and some of those even better than a spinner bait during day light hours. Combine this spot with night time fishing and nothing will beat the deep water spinner bait. It is so fast to hook up at night and control the situation it is unbelievable as they are looking for that big thumping profile.

Just your standard baits in 1 oz. trying both double willow and double colo.. I like silver blades at night and gold blades at that depth during the day. Standard size blades are good, you don't have to over kill on the blade size because you want the bait to stay down there traveling at that depth for as long as possible just like a crank bait it is going to start rising half way back to the boat. I do not skimp of line size in deep water with lots of brush. It is going to be #25 Floro. or 50# Braid. Boat positioning is also a learned thing but I always start with trying to stay and fish parallel with the ledge. You can work the spinner along the edge of the brush, out to the edge off the lip, then below the lip of the ledge. Making long cast is a must, learning to count it down, watch the line to tell you when it has touched down and etc. are all things to learn.

20 ft. plus out past the brush line:
Without heavy cover within two flips of their tail it becomes more difficult. Long cast are OK if you know they are tight to one small rock cropping or irregular feature. If this is a slop with a contour around it then another technique comes into play. At this depth they feel save so passing over the fish usually does not effect them too much. The drag (C-Rig) type technique has worked best for me. I down size the blades one half number to help keep the bait down there better. Make a long cast letting it go to the bottom and start your drift dragging the spinner like you would a C-Rig. Stay in contact with the bottom letting it slow roll along. Use the TM to slow and control the boat keeping it on the contour that the fish are attached to as you are watching you front map contour the whole time.

I find these magic depths by seeing loads of suspended fish out in deeper water. If there are big numbers of fish suspended at 25 ft. then that is the depth and contour I am going to drag the spinner bait out and around that point, slope of drop off. I use the same two blade combinations, the tandem willow and tandem Colo.. Scent has played a huge part in deep water fishing. I keep them dripping with Minnow Extract so it is as real as possible.

I keep buoy markers ready to throw far on the uphill side when I hook up. Then I can come back after making the first pass on contour. Many times I will change to a 1 oz. jig to pick that area apart with a much slower presentation.

I'm not saying this will work.....but you might try downsizing your blades on a 1oz or 3/4oz bait and dredging with it.
Makes it easier to keep it down longer.

Nah it hasn't just supped it up and called it a bladed umbrella rig
