Ok well not a crappie jig but I figured y'all would appreciate it. This is a 1/2oz sassy shad head. This will be for sandbass and hybrids. I got the colors on the body upside down cause I was so excited to try it. Body is deer belly. Tail is buck tail and hackle. Took me about 45 minutes. More to come!

2nd attempt. Didn't get the belly as tight as I wanted but it should fish fine.

Mighty Fine Work there! I just don't have the patience for tying hair! Also, I wouldn't even know how to tie the hair in to get th excellent results you got! You should make a video or at least a slide show!

Thanks Pepop but you definately wouldn't want to learn from me! Besides, with the natural abilities you posses you would have it mastered and be teaching me in no time! You ought to see what some of the guys can do that know what they're doing! It's amazing! There are quite a few videos on you tube and lots of pictures on various sites. I spent a couple days thinking and looking on the internet while I waited for my hair to get here. I scoured the Internet looking for some like those with heavy jig heads but never found one. It's all just flys, so I just did the best I could using their techniques and put it behind a big jig head.

Well, your work is EXCELLENT! Guess I'll look around and see what I can see. I have all kinds & colors of hair, just haven't ever done much with it.

I've been tying for over 30 years and for your first time stacking hair...well....looks like you've been doing it for years! FANTASTIC job!

Fly tier (yeah, I can fly fish...but the fish don't like frothy water!)

I need time to practice. First attempt at a Pompano jig. 10 minutes to tie, 20 minutes of cleanup. Will try setting the vice in a plastic grocery bag next time.

I had to google what a Pompano jig was lol roflmao. That looks GREAT man! As good as I can do for sure. Hairs aren't too loose, tight enough to get a full body. Great job bud! clap

Never heard of a Pompano fish, but after seeing what people use I have no doubt that'll catch em for sure!

Edit: Yes it can make a mess. I take mine out of the vise and hold it over a small cardboard box in my lap.
Fun to make isn't it?

It is fun to work with but a Pompano jig is not the best application. I use crimped nylon or Estaz since it holds up better than hair in the surf.

I need to practice some stacking patterns before attempting a streamer style tie. It takes much more discipline than wrapping chenille
Thanks for the inspiration.
