Where is a good place to get lead for pouring jigs. Seem crazy paying so much at BPS for lead. Anyone local have other places they get their lead from?

You can sometimes find good lead at scrapyards for $0.75/lb. You need to flux it a couple time before you use it though.

You use to be able to go to pluming store and get lead. That lead will be soft so go to your local tire shop and get some of their tire weights and mix in to strengthen the lead for your jig heads.

Lead isn't used for tire weights anymore. They use different weights on an adhesive strips. You might be able to find some, but a very small percentage of the wheel weight you get will be lead.

Tireshops, wheel weights works good,if you can find a little tin to add to your mix your molds will fill out better, reloading shops is another good location ask for Lyman#2 used for bullet casting.

You can still get lead wheel weights but not for free anymore. How much you need? I've got some clean lead stashed for casting boolits.

A guy gave me a almost full bag of #6 shot a couple of weeks ago to pour jigs with but I am going to load shotgun shells with it. I might want to shoot some UN zombies one of these days.

Lots of zinc wheel weights out there. Gotta sort them out of the mix.

Good choice. Shot is running well over $1 a pound and scrap lead is about $0.70 a pound right now.
