I bought a couple of the W&M Skeet Reese Carbon Pro reels 7.9:1 weighing 5.6oz. Out of the box one of them was noisy the other was quiet both smooth. On the first trip out using them one of them only lasted about 2 hours before it felt like a gear was stripped and the level wind would not turn. Checked the warranty on them and found there is a 2 year limited warranty. "Send in reel with prepaid shipping and $30.00" Took reel apart and found that the level wind gear is missing 3 teeth. Checked online and found that there are no parts available for these reels and that if you do send it in they will just make you an offer to purchase a new reel for 50% off. Pretty crappy. Reels MSRP is $159.95. I will never buy anything else Skeet Reese or W&M. The other reel I cleaned the insides and re greased it and it is now quiet and smooth. Just don't know how long it will last. Glad I did not have to pay retail for them but still a poor investment.

Glad to see this post. Dicks Sporting Goods was offering this reel the other day online for $59.95, a $100 off with free shipping, and I was tempted. My purchase of one of the rods a year or so ago made me decide not to buy it. I guess they were $100 off for a reason.

Hard to beat a new Daiwa Tatula for $95 or Shimano Citica for $110.
