I'm taking my 11 year old granddaughter to Lake Palestine for a week and thought it would be fun to get her into some hybrids or sandies. The last guide I hired at the lake was more of a catfish guide than a white/hybrid guide and my granddaughter is freaked out by catfish. I'm looking for a child friendly guide for Lake Palestine who can give us a shot at some whites/hybrids. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Gbud,

We Guide on Richland Chambers which is about an hour from Lake Palestine. I had two different Customers in the past month stay at the Villages on Palestine and make the drive to fish with us on RC. if you are interested, check us out at www.gonefishin.biz . We specialize in Family and Kiddo Fishing and White Bass Catchin' and have fished RC since 1994. We have one boat open on Friday, July 1 and Saturday, July 2 next week.

Good Luck!

Thanks,

Thanks fastguy.

Gbud,

I don't typically guide on Lake Palestine but I know it pretty well. I'm not aware of any white bass guides on that lake to recommend. If you cant find one I'll put you and your granddaughter on some fish. I hope yall have fun and thanks for taking a kid fishing!

Chris

Just a suggestion, whites and hybrid fishing is not good on Palestine right now IMO. Wednesday I even called 2 guide buddies and they are struggling also right now. You can find a few but not many, and those you can find don't want to bite a lot of times. I would recommend traveling to another lake for the day if your going to spend the $ on a guide. This has just been my experience as of late, maybe it's just me. I just wanted to give you a heads up. Chris may be able to make a suggestion on a better fishing lake at the moment also. I'm not sure when you are coming so things could change between now and then, but its been pretty bad for the past couple weeks.

Now crappie, that's another story. If you don't mind catching crappie instead, you can load the boat in short order.

Good luck and let us know how it goes whatever you choose.

Well I know Chambers has a good white bass bite going right now and I've been smoking the big hybrid on Cedar Creek. Cedar Creek is 45 min and chambers is about 75 min from Lake Palestine.

I've heard that Palestine is tough right now but that lake turns off and on like a light switch.

If you are after hybrids let Chris take you out on Cedar Creek. It's by far and away the most productive hybrid fishery of the lakes talked about above.

We smoked the big hybrids on palestine today, but as mentioned above it is very hit or miss. If you want a sure thing you should definitely make the short drive to cedar creek and contact chris richardson. I got pictures all wednesday evening of the big fish they were catching. He is on them over there.

Perhaps a bit of both.

I will mention I was able to talk Trent Miller, a one time Tyler resident and Lake Palestine hybrid guide but now relocated Tawakoni guide in to driving to Palestine to show me the ropes when I first moved to the area. He hadn't fished the lake in years but made it look easy and showed me a lot of things I still use to this day. It ended up being one expensive trip as he introduced me to side imaging and the first generation i-pilot.
