What's some good places to stay not too far from the ramp off of 147 (cassell Boykin park)? Trying not to have to drive all the way to lufkin each day. However, I dont want to stay in a dump.

Jackson Hill is North on 147 bridge. Broaddus has a few places and there is a hotel right across 147 south of the bridge. The Backlash Inn. None are dumps.

The food at Jackson Hill is pretty great so that would be for me.

Jackson Hill's cabins are not the cleanest around.

I believe Backlash is closed. Lakeview Inn would be a good place to start. There are not very many other places in that vacinity. Broaddus Inn is another but I do not have any first hand knowledge. Jacksonhill can be "IFFY".

In broadus a small diner that has good food is Bears country diner. They should be able to help you locate somewhere to stay.
