Will be making a trip in the next few weeks to Lake Belton to look around for a Tour during Oct. Never been on lake never seen lake so it will be new to me I'm going now so I can see how the lake is set up and how it can be ran I'll fish some but mainly a lot of looking. I read that it has Small mouth would be great to catch a small mouth but also see it has spots and of course large mouth also see that it has a lot of rocks looks on shore line I assume there are rocks in lake. If anyone wants to give me areas to look at that would greatly appreciated, it's a 3 1/2 hour drive for me so this trip will be the only trip I will take till tour time in Oct.

I would wait with the water up over 24ft today it will change a lot by October. What tournament are you fishing in October?

Only good for locals and they prefer Stillhouse. For me the few tournaments I fished, it was best around the dam area. Just figure what technique you do best and do it deep.

Almost all if not all of the ramps are currently closed as the lake is 24' high and still rising. Should start down soon, but it will take a long time to get it back to anything like normal. Tournaments typically start out of Cedar Ridge or Temple Lake Park. Most of the shoreline is rocky but not all.

Better check to see if there are ramps open anywhere on Belton. Last I heard it was pretty much shut down with the high water levels.

Out a little this afternoon. Water is dingy brown looking and has a definite odor, something like rotting vegetation. I noticed the COE reduced the discharge from Proctor some, so maybe Belton will start to recede. No way it will be good for boating for the holiday weekend.

Yep, you're wasting your time going to Belton right now (if you can even get on it). It will be a totally different lake, both in the way it looks and fishes, come October.

Generally in October I would start shallow with a top water. Yellow Majic in white was working for me before the flood. Then go to a weightless jerk bait like a fluke or a senko. Then try a small swimbait or a crankbait. Finally go deeper with a t-rig or c-rig.

Dead fish takes around four hours to launch, no wait at all today at cedar ridge. Launching off the road due to the water being so high.

Lots of floaters and trash, be careful.

Quite a few boats out on the water around Cedar Ridge. Not sure where they were coming from, maybe the marina, but surprising number out.

What causes the off color of the water in Belton. It is not suspended sediment but rather a brown color. I assume it is caused by rotting vegetation as the lake definitely has an unpleasant odor also.

They've significantly reduced the releases from Proctor, but Lake Belton keeps coming up 3 or so inches a day. I guess it is just water in the system that hasn't reached Belton.
