I have used the Everlast boots for quite some time now (5 or 6 years I believe) and I do like them. But they are getting torn up and I'm thinking about getting some new wading boots. The only complaint I have with them is that I seem to sink really deep in the sand/mud with them; granted I am 6'5 and 245lbs so I know I am going to have this issue no matter what. Are there any boots out there that work better than the Everlast boots and ray guards I am now wearing in regards to being able to covering more water??

I have a pair of hodgman wading boots that are nearly knee high, weightless in the water, not quite bullet proof as the ray guards, but pretty thick. Don't pull off in poot mud.

Now I bought them off craigslist, and just looked at their website and they don't show them. I guess I better take decent care of them now.

I have the same ones. Wish I would have bought at least two more pairs.

Oh, and I never wade in poot mud again. Life is too short.

One of the great things about my scooter, you can sit on the side and just sorta walk along, I've poked redfish with the end of my rod doing it.

The Everlasts aren't the most comfortable boots I've found, but they hold up to heavy use in oysters better than anything else I've tried. I have a lighter pair of boots for fresh water.

My last pair of Simms lasted me 10 years. I'd had other brands before them. I'm sure there are other good brands out there though.

Has anyone used the Simms Flats Wading Boots? I'm leaning towards a lace up in hopes of it helping me pull my foot out of the mud/sand faster.

Definitely go with a lace up. I bought my Simms before the Flats boot came out. But I know a lot of guys that are happy with them. The Simms Ocean Teks are a little tougher if you wade more mud and oyster. The Flats boots are great on sand flats / mud and grass. Super lite. Have heard great things about both.

I ended up getting the Simms Flats Boots,and the Simms Wet Wade Neoprene Socks to go with it. They were great the first time out on the water and didn't really have a break in period. Fished a tournament Saturday in them and it's the fastest I've been able to cover water and surprisingly the best by back has ever felt after almost 8hrs straight of wading. I broke my back playing college ball and wading is usually a terror. The lace ups definitely helped with my feet as well, usually I'd curl my toes up trying to keep the booties on while pulling them out of the sand, but didn't have that issue. I'm very very pleased with them and they seem like they will last a long time.
