Has anybody found the thermocline on Bob Sandlin? We thought we found it in 22 feet today but then it looked like it was in 12 feet once we moved to 18 foot of water? I guess our electronics are not good enough. Anybody know where it's at?
Tight lines and god bless

if you're looking early in the morning or later at night you may be seeing plankton, not a thermocline.

It strange because it's a straight line like the thermocline. That makes since though because that should be to shallow for it. If that is not thermocline do y'all know where it is?

No I haven't been to Sandlin in awhile, but on Cypress it was at around 20-22'. If you want to get rid of the Plankton, and have Humminbird graphs, change the sonar to clear mode and not max mode. Then increase sensitivity to your liking

It can look like a thermocline during low light/dark. It can also be in columns like this that was gone a couple of hours later in the morning:
Helix 12 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G3N and G4N, 1198c SI, SOLIX 10 SI G3, Helix 8 MEGA SI+ GPS G4N, SOLIX 12 SI and G3, MEGA 360, MEGA LIVE TL, RC-1

With all the runoff we've had the last two years, there will be more sediment in the water and lower water clarity at deeper depths/less light penetration at deeper depths=shallower than typical thermocline on most lakes that got all this rainfall.
I suppose a large lake could temporarily have thermoclines at different levels on the same body of water, with a shallower thermocline in areas that have received recent run off and a deeper thermocline in an area downstream. Particularly if the downstream areas are rockier. And the feeder creek areas are more clay/dirt composition.

Then increase sensitivity to your liking I use Switchfire Clear all the time and do not adjust the Sensitivity to see the thermocline or plankton (default setting). If anything you would reduce the sensitivity setting to eliminate those returns. The thermocline is recorded on the Imaging views and 2D of a Side Imaging unit:
Helix 12 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G3N and G4N, 1198c SI, SOLIX 10 SI G3, Helix 8 MEGA SI+ GPS G4N, SOLIX 12 SI and G3, MEGA 360, MEGA LIVE TL, RC-1

Will p.p.lakes like welsh or monti develop a thermocline.. or even get any cooler at all. Or will they be the same temp. Throughout the whole column from top to bottom
