2 year old toddler grabbed and killed right in front of his parents at Disneyworld.

Not a good idea to have dangerous animals around people.

Alligators are everywhere in the U.S. and there is nothing you can do but post warning signs or educate the public. Either way it is the responsibility of the parent to watch their child in the end. If the waters there were not marked then the parents are going to be rich after a law suit. If the lake was clearly marked then the parents should go to jail for neglect. It is that simple. Disney should have known.

Disney did know because there are signs for no swimming in the area they were at. I am sure that by not being from there they had no idea of the real potential or threat. Probably never seen a gator except at a zoo. Sometimes it is a matter of just having the forethought to do whatever one is doing. I have never been to Florida but I have seen enough and read enough that you run a better than average chance of running into one. So my forethought tells me that I might want to take that into consideration being near water in Florida.

Can any rational person really believe there is a body of water in Florida, short of a swimming pool, that does not contain alligators? Really?

I said U.S....lol

Update the body of the child was found intact. Apparently the gator only pulled him under and he drowned.

Oh and there were no alligator warning signs there. There is a no swimming sign but you can't expect every tourist not from Florida to know there are gators in the water. Again, mark my words...lawsuit...although I still think the parents were negligent as well.

God rest that poor child's soul.

There has only been one other alligator attack in Disney parks. That child survived with only minor injuries. Generally, alligator attacks are rare as they are typically nocturnal and tend to avoid areas with a lot of human activity.

The "No Swimming" signs that line the lagoon were not originally intended to warn of alligators considering that the lagoon was not intended to have alligators. The signs were put there because the resorts rent out watercraft and Disney did not want people swimming in a lagoon filled with inexperienced boaters.

This ^^^.

Disney knew and didnt want to scare customers away. Also, Disney type Bambi and Lion King mentality was probably at play.

Ive known of city slicker hunters in Texas vacating hunting leases if a hunter reported seeing a cougar. Dude ranches in the western mountains with camping and trail rides that host hunters in season often keep quiet about the presence of lions and bears in their trail ride areas for the same reason.

Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.

Teach a man to fish, he will sit in a boat all day and drink beer.

You don't have to leave the city to get a gator.

These kids are swimming in Rowlett creek in Allen right above where CH 5 reported an Alligator

People are around dangerous animals all the time. Ever swim at a beach?

U cannot stop alligators from being in that body of water.

You don't kill animals just because you want a vacation spot. Other alligators will come right in and fill the void. If you want to go swimming, go to a pool. It was Florida! I wouldn't have been wading in the water let alone allow my child to.

Most of these posts are made out of ignorance or just outright fear. It is true that any body of water in Florida may contain gators, maybe you should stay out of your boats in Texas as you may fall out and you have them also. How in the world someone can blame a parent for this tragedy is beyond me.

Ok guys. You do know that gators are scared of people. They will swim away from you. They are also not the brightest animals in the animal kingdom. Its a terrible tragedy sure. Practice common sense. I've swam in many places where gators are known to be. They stay away. Unless its mating season, they really don't prefer to be aggressive. I don't know the whole situation, and I guarantee nobody on here knows the whole situation. I have never been a parent, but I know if you look away for 2 seconds a little kid can easily get out of your sight. It happens. [censored] happens. We have turned into a society where if a freak accident happens, we have to put the blame on somebody. Absolutely ridiculous. Not saying the parents are suing, but it's not like suing will bring any happiness out of losing a child either.

Well this is my opinion, may not mean much to some, OK it's very sad that the child was taken by the gator, my heart goes out to them. Here in the past weeks we have had two snake bites, one cougar attack, one bear attack, two dog attacks in Dallas one died.Dallas could do a lot better on this. And shark attacks too name a few. I have fished on the coast and been up in the mountain states more times than I can count, even in East Texas where I live, wild hogs, I've had close encounters with all. I know the dangers before before I go. I don't depend on someone to have too tell what might happen. I already know.
