I got an early start Thursday and was on the road to the lake before my alarm clock vibrated it's warning.. I was a little disappointed arriving at the lake to find a southern wind blowing towards the shore I chose to fish. The chop on the water would prevent us from being able to see the whitebass and hybrid surface feeding & schooling we had hoped would greet the morning. J-Moe did a quick scan of the shoreline and seeing no activity headed off to the spillway. I continued working the area to end up touring through the park. Welch park is open and ready for visitors but on this day the whitebass and hybrids were nowhere to be found..

Ben you and Jaimie need to take a trip!!!! I have three options on it right now and all are doing real real well right now!!!!!as always amazing video my friend but I think we could get a way more fishy excursion lined out y'all just give me a shout and we'll figure out a time. Heck go to work make some money or sleep in and get some rest and arrive there midday and I can almost guarantee some pretty good success. Keep up the great video work! Make sure to remind J-moe to keep catching those trophies for me

We have gone from sunny to rainy to flooding and back to sunny again over the last week or so... Rising lake levels and cutting the out-put from maximum to nothing into the spillway really does a number on the fish. The key to a spillway fisherman's success is knowing when the flows change and what the fish are likely to do in response to the changes. No flow in the morning shut the fishing down but opening the gates midday put the fish in a much better mood.. How I keep up on Lake Somerville.. http://somerville.lakesonline.com/Level.asphttp://www.swf-wc.usace.army.mil/reports/fish.htm

Hey, I'm thinking about trying below Whitney tomorrow -- do you know when they're opening the gates. I can see that they're pulsing it downstream, but I don't know what the delay from the dam to the station is. Thanks.

I fished right below the dam yesterday. Started fishing at 8:30. White bass were steady on small white clousers or something that would suspend in the shallow water column. Anything that mimicked a dying baitfish worked great. They started generating at 11:00am. We could not catch a fish after they started generating. Be safe.

Normally start around 11-12 most days. Dang Jesse10 from what we found last year take a break when they start generating and give it an hour after an hour when it comes up it normally turns back on really good.

Thanks for the info guys.
I couldn't get there until the afternoon (5:30 or so), they were still generating, so everything was thoroughly flooded and I couldn't/didn't want to risk wading out to the current seam with no visibility. So no fish for me. Water was warm, smelly, and dirty. Other folks had stringers of bluegill and maybe buffalo.
