We take our sour maize that we soured in a 5 gallon bucket and then put it out in a 5 gallon bucket with holes drilled in it. Then take another 5 gallon bucket with holes drilled in it and but maize in it and let it sour in the lake. Then you just have to alternate between the buckets with new maize and let the lake sour it for you. Change them out every week or so. You will keep a scent around that dock all year if you want. As long as you keep scent there, the cats should stay. Buckets are the best. I learned that tote sacks, pantyhose and stuff like that, the cats suck the bags and finally tear them open.
