It is my first trip to PK and it happens to be a club tourney. Will be there Thurs- Sun, I hear its still chocolate milk and now smells like rotten eggs...not what I expecting for my first trip there...is there any of the creeks starting to clear up? Any help or advise is greatly appreciated!

In a weeks time the lake may clear up a little bit but not enough to make a difference. The areas that are the clearest are the very backs of the 3 major creeks (Caddo,Cedar, and Rock). I fished Cedar over the weekend and a lot of little fish but no keepers. Give that area a year and it will be good. I know a small tournament was won out of the Caddo area. If I was fishing a tournament this weekend I would head up to Rock Creek. I know that area was one of the few areas where fish survived all of the fish kills over the past 10 years or so. As you are heading up the creeks they may not look like much but you have to get up in them and you find clear water. I have more confidence fishing in the cleaner water. Fish will be there. The problem will be finding keeper fish but with the way the lake is now 3 or 4 keepers will win it. If the main lake ever clears up then all bets are off and fish the main lake but the only clear water available for now is located in these creeks.

By the way-----There is no rotten egg smell in the areas that I mentioned above. About the only odor you will find will be coming from some serious sweating armpits. From about 11:00 to 3:00 you will sweat your butt off!!

I heard that the big bite has been below the thermocline......but you'll have to ask Bob Smith or RedRanger about how deep to fish. They are the experts on thermocline.

Flew over the northeast side of PK this morning, things aren't looking any better than Saturday.

Pictures of the upper end of the lake. This end of the lake never cleans up like the lower end. You can fly over this area again in August and it will be better but not like what the lower end will look like. Kin folks had a place located near Rock Creek Camp and it was always stained to muddy.
