Did anybody get any pictures of that storm that pushed in in Rayburn yesterday? I was running in from Phophers to the Ram Truck tourney at Twin Dikes and it was coming out of Veech. Clobbered us about Powell Point. I heard there was a waterspout bouncing around out from Preacher Rays. It was nasty.

We got in just in time but my travel partner and his boater didn't make it back in time. They were up around 147 when they tried to head back. I think it hit them close to caney. I got a text message around 4pm saying "we are alive". That's good to know but no other details makes you nervous. They got back in about 445. There was also a legend boat that got swamped at twin dikes while it was beached. Coach

The waves hit me while I was waiting on my trailer (3:15) Lots of people were having a hard time loading. Red pontoon was all over the place.

I left the Black Forest somewhere around 3:15 for a 3:45 check in because I could see the storm at Veach. There were some really black nasty clouds and the wind picked up quick. The ride back was tough. Before the waves got big the wind felt like it was going to lift the boat - had to keep it trimmed down due to the wind coming from the side. There were some really big swells that were actually fun to drive heading south from Rayburn Park/Point to Twin Dikes. I made it back with a few minutes to spare and of course there was no one from the tournament staff waiting to check in boats at the ramp like we were told. I guess they did not think anyone else was going to make it. I think 2 other boats made it after me. Beating the [censored] out of expensive boats for a few hundred dollars is not really smart but I guess that why we buy the good ones for these bad weather trips.

Fortunately this tournament was on Rayburn and not Toledo otherwise there would have been no way to get back during the storm and on time.

Neal, funny that you said that. When that 35 degree temp drop hit, and that first wind with it, mine felt like it wanted to blow over as well. Like you I trimmed down, but I really wanted to make Powell Point before it got too bad. Had to keep pushing. I pretty much surfed them from Powell. Loading was pretty much a one shot deal. I went back up to Castle Boykins to fish a little afterwards, and there was one of those ski hogs being towed in that they loaded. The rudder, prop, and half of their swim deck was mangled to heck.

By the way, I have no ilusions that my boat would blow over. Not gonna happen..

I had a feeling that was gonna be a severe storm. Most storms in Texas come up from the south or down from the northwest....this one came in from the northeast. That almost never happens......freak storm.
About 25 yrs ago we got caught close to a tornado that came across Rayburn at one of the first McDonalds tourneys. Sunk several boats, blew piers off their moorings, and damaged several homes. After the storm blew through the temp dropped about 30 degrees....didn't get a single bite the rest of the day.

Buddy of mine was fishing the RAM and didnt make it in, he was up North and made to about the Caney area and got hit hard and ended up having his trailer brought to him at Caney...and this was from a guy that stays on the lakes, he said the waves at Caney were like nothing he has ever seen.

We were at the Pavalion with a booth at the SETX Championship. People kept saying there was a storm on the way and I kept looking to the West and North. Somebody finally got a Verizon Signal and said it was coming from the North East! I told them that is NOT Normal! I heard that there was some damage on Toledo but we were fortunate that we shut down the booths and were not on the water. That was a bad one for sure! THEN yesterday afternoon it "flipped" and came back from the South and got us again from the "Backside!"
I got some pics but not of the actual storm on Saturday. It was difficult for a good picture from the pavalion and the trees to the North East.

I think I know the guys you are talking about. I feel bad b/c Corey had a good shot at winning it on the co-angler side.

Yes he did. And his boater had a good sack too. Probably enough for 2-4 place. All my fish died by 10 am. Ended up dropping from 1st to 8th on co-angler side after 1.5lb penalty. Coach

Lot of fish died this weekend. My sons Co fell from 2nd to 5th because of 2 dead fish. I was seeing 89 degree water temps. Then the ride in for the last flights was not a good combination for the fish. Hope the same doesn't happen this weekend with the TX Whiskey event. Hot weather does it every time.

I honestly don't know what happened. All fish were caught by or before 6:45. By 8 I noticed something not right with the big fish (5.88) . We had aerators going on manual, added G-juice, attempted to cool water. I worked on them 3 different times before 10am. None were hooked deep, in the tongue or gills. Coach
