The line I use is big game always have always will, but I have a diameter question.
12lb big game has a .014 diameter and big game 15lb has a .015. So very small diameter difference. Do you guys believe this is a big enuff difference to cause a fish to bite or not. It seems like I catch just as many fish on 15lb test but my last 3 fish over 7lbs have been on 12lb test. I'm curios what you guys think.

If you aren't going to change what makes the difference?

You are way over thinking it, fishing isn't that complicated.

There are not a lot of situations in our Texas waters that line diameter makes a noticeable difference, especially one that insignificant...

Only time I drop below 15lb is for cranks and jerkbaits, I throw big game for most situations and techniques as well. Unless your throwing a diving bait I would say stick with the 15lb. Caught my biggest fish last weekend on 20lb and if they still made 17lb that is what I would have have spooled on most of my reels.

Brad: when do you use fluoro and braid?

Only slight difference is if your are throwing a small bait. The 12 may spool easier and cast better

I only throw floro on my jerkbait and my mid and deep diving crankbait rods, I have braid spooled on my frog rod and spinning reel with floro leader. Other than those it's big game for me. Imo big game is the best bang for the buck. I respool all my mono atleast every 2 months anyway. I'm out less than 20 bucks to respool all those reels.

Im in no way saying big game is the best line out there but it works for me and I have good luck with it. I have gotten a bad spool or 2 over the years but other than that I have had zero issues.

I know this is not the question, but sometimes if you're not dropping down from 15# whatever to like 8# fluorocarbon you are missing out in a big way. Don't know about going from 15 to 12.

Try 15 and see if it will manage for you. If it does then switch, if not then stick to 12

Bassalong, I do drop down on my fairywand, but not what I was getting at. I was trying to simply find out if yall think the fish can see 15lb test more than 12lb test

I use 20 pound test on all my jigs, Texas rigs, shakey heads &c-rigs I don't think it makes a difference unless you are fishing gin clear water and Benbrook is not that clear Kevin LOL

I fish 20lb Floro and 17lb mono and 65lb braid and have not had any problems catching fish. Would I catch more with a smaller diameter...maybe but I do not ever want to lose one because my line broke and I am usually around some kind of cover as well.
