Do any of you use the long handle dip/landing nets I saw some on Ebay. If you have one tell me about it before I roll the dice and try one.

I use a pretty long handled net when I fish out of my kayak because it makes it easier to land the fish, but when fishing from the bank nets aren't normally needed. They can be very helpful when fishing from a boat and I don't regret the investment one bit.

A long telescoping net handle is great for the boat. One consideration is storage of the net.
The EGO and Frabill are both good nets. Also consider that once the handle is extended, those rubberized nets get rather heavy on a long handle. I like the find mesh net as it weighs less. The longer handle helps reach the fish without having to play the fish right next to the boat. You're usually standing up on the front deck of the boat and it's a long reach to the water from that height. Short handle nets mean you have to get down on your knees to reach out to the fish. The telescoping nets are great for spider rigging to keep fish from tangling in the other lines, but it really takes 2 hands to handle one, so if you fish by yourself, keep a shorter net on board.

Thanks for your honest answers to my question.I do fish some by myself but alot with my wife that means landing her fish and that crappie rod sometimes takes a beating getting the bigger ones in.

I like the Frabill that folds up for storage, plus they have a paddle attachment that replaces the net for emergency use....
