They are kinda schooling now. Saw some yesterday but now alot nor very long. Have heard better schooling action early morning off points but hit or miss. Probably another month or so for any consistency. Usually Bastrop schoolies start about now and are more consistant. Haven't heard reports about Bastrop but should see some soon.
There is a great deep bite at Fayette right now in 15-22' FOW on CR. Caught 50+ yesterday evening from 4 to dark

Yes. Break lines where it drops from 15' to 20+. USE your electronics. Look for shad balls with stuff below it. Generally the stuff below is bass. If you see slanted lines from the stuff below to the shad, it is definitely bass on the feed. Look off main lake point, Buzzard and Hog points and you should run into them. Also decent bite at the intake and discharge where it breaks into the channels. Don't think color was important because we caught fish on anything watermelon, redbug, june bug

The deeper bite is on like mentioned. As this laqke heats up, they go deper. Don't look for the schooling action until August. That's when good action takes place. But most of them will be in the tree pound range. That's fun.

Awesome
Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.
I have gotten in on the schooling action previously, but could not remember when it was.
I will let you know how it goes.

Definitely on for the CRig Bite. We had 177 today from 7 to 4.

You caught a 177 bass in 9 hours out of one boat? That would be a fish every third or so cast with a C-rig for 9 straight hours, assuming you had 2 guys, and never moved the boat and never had any tackle issues. Was that a typo?

3 people. 9 hours. All on CRig in 15 to 20. 65 + 58 + 54 = 177. 3 triple hook ups and quite a few doubles. Mainly off 4 spots. Roaming Wolf packs. About 80 came off single spot. If one guy got bit just throw in close. About 75% of those pot lucking casts got bit. Easy to spot on electronics. Average fish was about 2 to 2.5. Big was about 6 with one about 5. Quite a few small ones.

Family bragging match. Count is accurate to the fish.

Hard thing for the non-believers is that's only our second best trip there ever. About 14 years ago with the same 2 people, my brother and his son, we caught 124 but the size was much, much better. About 100 of them were pushing 4# or over. Biggest 5 would have been right at 40#. We may have been able to put together 20 stringer that were 20# that day. Same basic technique the but it was in the 3rd week of June.

When the stars line up that Lake can be pure magic. 50 fish days happen fairly often. We put the over / under for a decent 3 person trip at 35. You will have days that are tough. Been over there when you had to work to catch 10.

There are plenty of fish in that lake. I have had 60-70 fish days by myself in less than 8 hours. Great job with the 150+ day!

People seem to have issues when someone fishes this lake and post the big numbers they catch. I fished it solo a few years back and landed 97. And I used a counter to keep up with my catch, so I know it was some what correct. A month or so a go, a fishing buddy and I caught 63 on the top water bait action. That was an awesome trip. Cloudy day and the bite was crazy good most of the day. But Im a top water junky any ways. Love watching them blow up on these baits. But Ive had several trips with a partner where we have boated over 150. Fun fun lake to fish. Easy lake to fish. I would refer to this lake as a huge over stocked tank with a bunch of hungry fish.
But the surface water temp is very high for this time of the year and I can see where these fish just might start this schooling action early this year. They never did school that much last year. First time they didnt do this in all the years Ive going out there. Thought it was kind a weird. But from what I saw last week as far as the feeding pattern goes, it seems to be developing into the schooling action. I really do look for this to start up soon, much sooner than ever before. And Im just going by what I have seen and how they are feeding right now. Like mentioned above, theyre like a wolf pack right now. You get into them, they are thick and striking at just about anything that moves. I saw streaks on my graph where they were shooting up from the bottom and attacking balls of shad. All I had to do is drop a jigging spoon straight down on the fish I was graphing and boom, fish on. Im going make a few phone calls today to see if I can find someone who wants to go with me tomorrow. I think it will be a good day.
