It is time to turn in 2 scales to be recertified, a Pro Tournament H2 Series w/ Wireless Remote Digital Readout (platform scale to 50#), and a load cell type scale w/ digital readout (cap.100#).The scales will be ready for pick up next week. Cal-Tech Calibrations,Inc. in Dickinson, is doing the recertifications. Two and a half years ago I signed up to operate a TPWD Official Weigh Station in conjunction with the "Texas Angler's Recognition Program". Refer to the TPWD website for full details. I reside in Hitchcock near the Diversionary Canal Public Ramp and the weigh station is at my residence. Be safe out there and remember to Take a Kid Fishing.

Ed, does this qualify you to verify state records or Star entries? if so how can you be reached?

A TPWD Official Weigh Station has nothing to do with the STAR Tournament. If a person catches a fish and believes it may be a pending State Record (see categories on TPWD Website)...of some sort, call me.I will then identify, measure, and weigh the catch. I have the appropriate form to fill out, along with photos that you will take of your catch. My number and address is on the Website....see Coastal Bend Weigh Team/Galv.Cnty. As a reminder, I can only weigh fish up to 100#.

No sir, the Texas Coastal Conservation Association puts this Tournament on each year. They pick 100 Redfish and of those...60 Healthiest Reds are tagged and placed in strategic locations from the La.border to Brownsville.

where do they get the redfish? i toured the sea center with my grand kids once and saw their ponds and tanks. which by the way is free, donations are voluntary, and a great way to spend time with your kids. are the released fish farm raised or captured, tagged and released?

During the filming of the releases, in 2012, the individual releasing them...said they were "caught on line, taken to the hatcheries, kept and later tagged and released". Remember, they catch 100 and release the healthiest 60.
