What shaft length do I need for a lower unit on a 2007 Merc 250 ProXS on a Champion 202 Bass&Bay? It has a Torque Master now.

Thanks in advance!

Measure the center section for shaft length or better yet to measure the torque masters shaft.

Thanks guys! Measured mid-section today at 15" will head down to the shop on Monday to measure shaft.

On another note I posted in a different thread about my boat (Champ 202 B&B) kicking sideways above 50 mph. I guess the issue was the lower unit as yesterday it grenaded on me. Gear fragments punched a hole in the side of the case so its toast. Expensive way to learn a lesson but there were no other indications that the lower was fixing to go sideways other than that occasional weird sideways kick as I cruised along. Of course hitting a log/stump right before didn't help. Wonder if insurance will pay? Otherwise I got to swallow this one.

Depends on your insurance adjuster. Just having a hole in the side of your gearcase won't get it, but a big dent in the front of it usually will.

Wood, especially water logged wood won't leave much of a mark. It did however kill the engine. Which to me indicates a substantial strike. Now all I have to do is convince the adjuster. Thanks Pat, yon've been a great help over the years.

ANY sort of hull damage will greatly increase your argument with an insurance minion.

Got some scrapes on the "Gorilla Hull" its really tough stuff, but nothing bad.

BTW, the shaft measured 20", go figure!
