One vise that everyone should have is a table vise. The one I use I have had about 40 years and its the smallest one I have ever seen. But there is a lot of jobs that its great on like cleaning the lead flash off of the jig heads and tying some insect jigs. I have it about 2 feet from my peak vise I use for tying. And its just a matter of turning my chair to use it.

Larry - my jigheads are hand poured and flawless. Really. They look like ball bearings and I've never had a MM of flash on any heads I've tied.

My spin-cast heads, on the other hand..... I'd spend as much time cleaning the heads as any other part of the process.

For sure Jerry, I have seen your jigs and they are tops. Good to see someone doing it right.

No doubt about it! thumb After thinking and watching some videos I think you are right, I can see where I will definitely use it.

Too cumbersome for me. I've also bought their non-rotary and am unsatisfied with it. For my tying style, their just too bulky at the jaws.

If you want a non-rotary Peak, I'll sell it for $50 (delivered).

I wish too lol! Thank you for the offer but I'm pretty set on rotary. What are you using now?

What is a table vise? Sorry, I'm still pretty new to this stuff. I've been watching youtube videos of insect flies and it's got my mind turning. Put one under a bobber for my daughter to bream fish... My pappaw taught me how to use a fly rod when I was little and I got one of them when he died. We used to wear the bream out with that thing in his pond... I may have to try it out with my own flies this time thumb

That name may not be right its just a shop vise only small. There is two video's on YouTube that is worth watching, one is Bob Clouser doing his Clouser minnow and the other is Ward Bean doing the jointed minnow. Not talking about the fly's themselves but the way these guys do it. They are two of the best in their world.

Thanks to Jerry T.'s generosity I have a rotary Peak and I love it. It cut my tying time per jig in half. Oh yeah Jerry's jigs are top notch as good as any on the market anywhere.

@Cowboy - I'm using the non-rotary Peak. If my old $8 vise (Super AA) would clamp better, I'd use it until I upgrade (I just really detest the bulky nature of the Peak jaws)...

I reckon I should make a post about selling the non-rotatry but I just haven't gotten around to it. To be honest, I thought one of my local buddies might want it and I was planning on gifting it (like the non-rotary).

I'm thinking about purchasing HMH Spartan on my next go-round and upgrading to the Magnum Jaw, if need be.

I find the regular Peak jaws to work fine for me, but would like it a bit longer. Sometimes I get a little cramped up between the brass and the jig.

I have noticed that area seemed to be short but all that's back there are feathers or something, no real tying going on back there. I figure it'll be fine. As far as the jaws they can't be worse thank the big round ones I have now
