So I've been shopping...
thinking about color. I'm really attracted to these dark greys and blacks, but the thought hit me..
"I wonder how much hotter this color gets in the sun....."
Secondary thought... does the bottom color of a hull have an effect on the fish? Does a white bottomed boat just stand out under water? Or am I thinking crazy?
How much weight do YOU place on color of a bass boat, and why?

Black boats are hot and show oxidation, scratches, and water stains more.bottom color idk,I like white to hide scratches. My current boat has a black bottom been using a paint pen to hide the scratches

Not black. I had a black Champion 202 that was miserable on your feet. It also showed scratches easily. From now on, I will have white decks.

I think all the colors weigh the same I will seriously never have another boat with a metalflake top cap, sides are fine but if you keep the boat for a long time, even covered outside, the flakes turn silver and the surface gets rough requiring lots of maintenance to keep it looking good....I guess it would be ok if the boat was silver or garage kept......Light colored plain gelcoat for me from now on!

No doubt black is the hottest by far, but I have to be honest......in the dog days of summer the red carpet in my white 201 PE gets hotter than he77. It is what it is.

Flake does weigh more than plain gelcoat, a full flake hull is about 70 lbs heavier than the same straight gel hull. Why?
The flake is sprayed behind the clear, usually with a black or white gel backing it, so there's a good bit more gelcoat on a flake hull than plain.

To me, the color of the carpet/floor is a big determining factor. First off, I will never own another boat with carpet, but that's a personal use/preference thing. My present rig is aluminum, and I went shopping for camo boats because of the ease of touch-up when/if I scratched it up. The dealer had a camo version and white version of the same rig sitting right next to one another on the lot. I could not hold my hand on the deck of the camo model, as opposed to the white boat having nice cool decks. That made the decision for me right then and there. I can walk barefooted on my white boat in the middle of the summer.
I have been on boats with charcoal and dark colored carpets, and I hate them. They do absorb sunlight, which cuts down on the glare you get in the sunlight, but they get so hot I wouldn't own one. Again, personal preference.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!
