To bad you didn't say who... But seriously just throw a small squarebill around your dock for bass and a small crappie jig with minnows should catch them. You can throw a squarebill, shakey head,or tx rig on any dock on that lake and catch fish. There are also several brush piles on that long bridge like thing that's near the dam. Lots of crappie there.Small bass also school up on the south corner of the dam.

Watermelon anything or green pumpkin anything will get bit. 7" power worm in blue flek is good, baby brush hogs etc. I bet you could get on just about any color you have confidence in honestly.

I have only been to Alvie once in the last little bit, but was there two weeks ago. The fishing was pretty tough, we managed one that was a couple lbs. I noticed there were shad everywhere all over the lake. This may be why it was harder to come by a bite.

I went yesterday . It was awful . They didn't want rattle traps , spinners , power bait , live minnows . Nuthin and there jumping all over the place chasing those schools of shad and minnows . So I ended up perch fishing with my four year old . They were tasty think I'm gona use the head I chopped off to bait a trotline

Alvarado is tough to fish. The bass are up IN the reeds. You have to dabble in amongst the reeds with a worm or fluke. I have caught some in the evening on the rocks at the dam. This is supposed to be a great Sandbass lake, but they never turned on for me. Catfish can be caught almost anywhere. Very shallow lake. I keep hearing rumors of some BIG fish caught, but I've never seen them.

I'm glad there are wine drinkers in this world ..... it saves more beer for the rest of us.

Alvarado is not tough to fish,a squarebill crankbait in sexy shad will get bit anywhere on that lake almost any time of the year. Yes it also does have nice fish in it,I've caught a 9.7 and countless over 6lbs from there. I didn't tell you to go flip reeds because I did t think you had a broom stick to get them out. The shallow/north end of the lake was even holding fish and I caught them on squarebills, and flipping a Texas rig. That lake has reeds, and docks, and a handful of off shore spots that don't really produce until now-October.
