I would like to introduce the 'LiftSaver' trolling motor mount which I designed and manufature to prevent damage from continuing to happen to my MotorGuide Xi5 and boat trailer when I launch/load my boat.



It lifts my MotorGuide Xi5 up 3 1/2 inches and back 6 1/2 inches eliminating hitting the bow roller and causing damage to both units. It also keeps my Xi5 from �banging� into the dock while I am pulling up or tied-off.

The larger mounting plate allows you to use the existing holes from your old TM, adjust the position of the trolling motor to best suit your boat and most important, to provide a greater surface area to mount your trolling motor to distribute the mounting forces on you bow (especially when running in rough water). It locks in the �Up� position and �Down� position with threaded bolts for safety and to provide a solid mount during fishing, running or trailering.

Some of the other features include a Quick Disconnect feature (Optional) for those that store your boats outside or need to remove the trolling motor for overnight trips or taking the unit in for service.

All components are Aluminum and hardware is Stainless Steel for corrosion resistance. You can paint or anodize the unit to your color preference.

The base plate on mine is 8"x20" according to Ron.

The base plates are 8"x20" to allow you to cover/use any pre-existing holes and to adjust the position of the trolling motor to best fit your boat (I turned mine slightly the keep the top head inside my boat - that's why the bottom right corner sticks out a little). You will have to drill your own holes to match your existing holes. The greatest advantage is it provides a large surface area to securely mount the trolling motor as opposed to using four bolts (if you are lucky) right at the edge of the bow. I know of three boats that have had the trolling motor break off the bow and damage the fiberglass/bow. One trolling motor is at the bottom of Lake Lewisville.



Remove the 4 1/4"x20 Nylon Locking nuts and you can remove the trolling motor with the LiftSaver still attached to the trolling motor (you can see mine in the corner). Takes me about a minute to remove my trolling motor for whatever reason.

The studs are hydraulically pressed into the plate so they will never fall out or start turning on you. Because I painted mine, the 1/4" nuts are used as spacers to keep the painted surfaces from rubbing together.

You may notice that I rounded one of the corners which is easy to do because the plates are Aluminum. A quick hit with a grinder or saw to get the excess material removed and then you can smooth with a file.

I recommend that you put all the components (TM, LiftSaver and QD Plate if desired) together and place on your boat to determine the best position for your set-up. Check for the appropriate clearance when the TM is deployed and then I used tape to mark the outline of where the unit should mount.



Remove the unit and measure the hole locations using the tape outline to assist you. Mark the plate (checking measurements twice) and drill your holes.



Note the spider cracks from the Xi5 hitting my trailer before the LiftSaver.
