I have an 8' Pelican Boat with a 2 HP motor. Are there any areas I can get to where the Crappie normally hang out? Would appreciate any info.

Be wary of big boats. I fish a 12 foot inflatable pontoon and had had Jet Skis try swamp me and once had a big cabin cruiser at Texoma come by and create a huge wake that would have sunk my 17 foot tracker boat. The inflatable rode over those huge waves but when I saw those huge waves from the wake I figured I was going swimming.
Your boat is fine. It's the other guy you have to watch out for.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

Boat docks, both stand alone and marinas are pretty good this time of year. Learn how to shoot a jig if you don't already know; focus on the shadow sides of the docks unless it is overcast. Let the jig fall and watch your line. If it moves at all, set the hook. Once the jigs hits the bottom, raise the rod and reel slowly while using a stop and go retrieve.
Good luck.
