I've done worse. I loaned a neighbor $1500 to get a rent house because he was being evicted. We used to fish together 2-3 times a week. Since I loaned him the money to rent a house one street away, I haven't seen him since. Lol.

My granddad had a great way of looking at this. He said "if you loan someone money and never see them again it was probably worth it". Not sure how he would feel about that amount of money though. That's a lot to be out.

You would think that you are safe when you loan to family. THEY ARE THE WORST. My wife loaned some money to a family member on her side, we told him to pay us back when he got back on his feet. 20 years later still waiting for him to get back on his feet.

I NEVER loan money to family. I just give it to them or buy something from them. That way I don't get upset when they don't pay it back and they don't feel bad that they don't pay it back.

My summer goretex rain suit. It was blue, don't remember the manufacturer.

Military surplus stores sell rain suits for affordable prices. They aren't the most breathable but are definitely a cost efficient way to go.

Please send mine back to me at the address I provided you. It was a loan, not a gift. Hope being a nice guy doesn't bite me in the butt.

And people wonder why most folks don't loan their equipment out. Been there done that, hope you get it back.

Best way to cull people you don't need around you is loan them money.

I don't think he is looking to buy a new one just wants his back.

If you loan something again, get some collateral in return to make sure you get your stuff back. You could have asked for his nicest rod and reel combo and that you would give it back to him after the weigh-in as well. But lesson learned the hard way. Sometimes people don't care about anything but themselves. Hopefully that person does right and gets it back to you soon.
