I had the idea to make a collapsible rod holder out of a worn out folding camp chair. Has anyone done this? I mean you can't always get something driven into the ground so maybe something that sets on top of it could work?

Any thoughts or ideas?

Pics will follow if there is enough interest.

I have spent many hours feeding many different species of fish.........and on occasion land a few.

I would be curious to see ideas around this. I fished at a boat ramp this weekend and just leaned my rods against empty chairs.

Well so far I have removed the canvas-ish stuff from a chair and stared at the frame for a while. Thinking about stapling a piece of 1x6 I had laying around to the back of the chair to use as a rigid support for the end of the rod.

The piece of wood will be removable so it will still fold up and fit in the original chair bag.

And notched so the rods won't wander too much.
