Well it's that time of the year. Finally I can throw those big DD22's and 6-10xds.

I will be traveling up to Grand soon to fish around elk river and close to monkey Island. Both places have perfect set ups for throwing crainkbaits. The water at Grand this time of the year is severely stained. The water literally turns green, which it has always been like that.

What are your all's set ups looking like for this summer? Ill be using new dobyns glass CB rods paired with 13 fishing C reels in 5:1.

Mainly the 705CB, 805, and if I have the money, a big bad 806!

For lures I will use some Spro little john MD's and some of their little john DD's.

I only wish I was in Texas so I could crank and flutter a spoon on fork all day long.

You better go south of Monkey Island to find that green water. Everything north is muddy. I just left there today. Shad are just starting to go out deep.

You don't want to flutter a spoon all day on fork. You will get hung up way more than catching fish. To much to snag. A Crankbait on the other hand is tons of fun.

I used a flutter spoon last year on one of the submerged road beds. Never got hung up once!

I've never been hung on a road bed there but I have donated two or three good spoons to timber on points.

I get hung up more with crank baits than I do with flutter spoons. If you don't set the hook hard many times you can get right over the cover and shake the spoon loose.

There is nothing like sitting on the roadbed in the middle of summer fluttering a spoon.

So many good memories but yet so many bad sunburns
