Hi guys, I've been on this site for a while mostly in the whites hybrids striper section, I know trash fish lol. I just moved out to Lubbock for school at Texas Tech. First degree was from A&M so my handle isn't totally crazy. Anyway, I'm new out here and went to Alan Henry and was totally out of my element. I've caught largemouth bass in lakes like Gibbons Creek, Conroe, and Lake Livingston, but I'm completely out of my element here with the clear water and rock at Alan Henry. I have a 2011 Bass tracker with 2 humminbird 999s and a solid trolling motor. I'm looking for somebody who can help possibly show me the ropes at the lake. If you want to ride with me I already have a family pass, so your entry would be free. I really just want firsthand knowledge and somebody who can help me out and you would be more than welcome to fish with me when possible. PM me if you are interested.

If you have ever fished a sinko, and have confidence I spent 4 years in college at Texas Tech and went to Alan Henry just about 2-3 days a week.
It fished unlike any other lake I have ever seen. I finally found a pattern that worked pretty much every time. I would get up in grape creek, and around the boat ramp coves throwing a weightless sinko, watermelon candy, and toss it over the submerged trees you can see in about 5-12 foot of water let it sink in the thick of them, pick it up once or twice then on to the next one.
That super clear water you need something natural. At the time I had never really even heard of drop shot fishing, I think that would be a great way to get them. Toss it to the edge of all those underwater salt cedars or whatever tress those are and you'll get bit. Fish are loaded in those trees but I couldn't get them to bite a jig, texas rigged or anything.
You will catch a bunch of 12-14" fish, but every now and then you'll good a toad.

Often times I will fish it on a 1/8th ounce weight t-rigged. The three biggest fish on that lake for me have come on a 3" and 4" senko.
