Had a great day on Salado Creek, caught a lot of bass and sunnies. The bite was awesome all morning and then slowed down a bit toward early afternoon. The best part was I got to watch my son catch his new PB and a great fish for anyone, he played it perfectly.

I got some nice ones too but the big fish goes to him

Also, does anyone else have problems with the hooks on the Betts poppers? They seem very weak and straighten easily, of course the "panfish" ones probably aren't meant to catch 12-18 inch bass. Guess I should learn to tie my own.......

Great pics and report. You son is growing up the right way, you da man dad. Congrats to your son. clap

I use the Betts Fancy poppers all the time, but I am mainly catching bluegill, sunfish and smaller bass. I have caught several bass over 3 lb. on the largest panfish size. They do tend to bend a bit on the bigger bass. Try going a bit bigger for catching bigger bass. I use a larger sized boogle bug sometimes when I want to fish for bass. I also tie Hook-Line&Sinkers easy froggy fly for bigger bass.
