I second that. Got my new one installed yesterday and to say Ron is a perfectionist is an understatement!

Ron knows a thing or two about installing a trolling motor. He also knows a thing or two on how to fabricate a bracket to eliminate damage to your trolling motor. I may have to hire him to help me out around the shop. Yes he is a perfectionist.

Here is your motor Bobcat!

Sorry, a little dense this morning. I'm thinking about putting an Xi5 on my Lund. Someone please explain to me what it is that I might hit the motor on. My Lund sits pretty high and certainly nothing on my trailer would be in the way...I think. Help!!

I didn't think mine would hit either Guy but when the nose drops coming off the trailer my Xi5 would hit the bow roller. It doesn't now.

Mine sits up pretty high also,, so it doesn't hit. Rons boat was doing it every time though.

Thank you for the kind words Floyd, Bobby and David. I appreciate your business and we will have to go fishing soon to do some product testing (another excuse to go fishing). I am still trying to perfect this crappie fishing.

Guy - some boats don't need them if they sit up high enough but others will hit the bow roller every time you launch (like mine WAS). Some boats will hit occasionally depending on how deep you back the trailer in. The worst is when you think you are okay and you are launching with a cross wind which blows the back end of your boat sideways which pivots the TM right over your bow roller as it is dropping off the trailer. Hopefully all that happens is a little scratched plastic or you break the cover plate off and you don't catch and break off the TM skeg. I also watched a boat with a Terrova that was tied off to a dock that was bouncing up and down (due to the boat wakes) and each time it came down it was banging on the dock/TM and before I could get to it to help hold it off the dock, it had broke the skeg and spider cracked the gel-coat around the mounting holes. The guy was getting his truck/trailer to load the boat and was truely sick when he saw the damage that happened.

I also would like to point out that it not only lifts and retracts the TM to reduce the chance of damage when launching or docking but also serves as a more secure mounting platform for the TM itself. On most installations, you can only use four screws to mount to your boat so you generally only have approximately 16 square inches of mounting surface near the edge of the boat. With my base plates, you have approximately 140 square inches of mounting surface to help distribute the load and torque from the motor as well as when you are traveling across the lake (I know of three units that are sitting at the bottom of local lakes when they busted off the front end of boats while they were on plane). The larger plate also allows you to cover all the existing holes from other previous installs and allows you to pivot the motor to some degree to allow you to get the control head to be within the boat sides.

If you would like to see it sometime or need any additional info, just pm me.

I like the mount I just wish there was a faster way to remove it. I need an almost instant way to remove/install it.

Remove four 1/4" nuts and the mount lifts off the quick detach plate.

I did look at incorporating some kind of release but all it did was add cost and I wanted something that would never fail and possibly lose a trolling motor.

I understand. I might have to go with one of the puck style. I need something that can be taken off with the quickness and leaves the smallest foot print when detached. I might have to yank that sucker off and lay it in the bottom of the boat at a moments notice. I like your product and if I had a different style boat I would definitely get one...heck I still might lol.

Here are a few pictures from a 2014 Bass Cat Pantara (SP?) II

'Up' Position

'Down' Position

Front 'Up' Position - note how he was able to shift the unit so the head is completely within the boat side while still covering and using all the existing holes in his boat.

Ralph painted an un-finished unit and I think it looks nice (just use a Self-Etching Primer).

I really appreciate your business kind sir. I hope the combo gives you many years of successful fishing.
