Have heard mixed things about these motors. What are some pros and cons. Going to look at a boat with one this week.

The Mercury EFI motors have a very good reputation. They are thirsty, but strong performers. I would definitely take it to a Mercury specialist for a complete health check!

I bought a used boat last fall that has a Mercury 150 EFI. The motor is 6 years old and had less than 100 hours on it. Check with some of the local Mercury mechanics at the local dealerships and find one that can bring their laptop and pull the codes and hours from the motor and do a compression check. I paid $50 to have this done and it was money well spent. My 150 runs great. It has a lot of power, starts easy and it is thirsty. It pushes my ProCraft 181 @ 58 mph (gps). Good luck.

I believe it's a 3.0 '05 model. It's on a Bass cat
