What's the best way to keep braided line from slipping on my spool? Thought my drag was not holding but figured out my line is slipping. 🤔 That's why I've missed some fish lately with it.

You should always use a mono backing on braid. Spool on some mono of similar diameter then attach the braid. This will prevent slip and save on line. You can get a couple of reels filled out of a spool of braid this way too.

On my spinning reels I put a wrap of electrical tape on the spool then put the line on. On my bait casters I use mono for backing.

Power pro line shows to go around spool 2-3 times then tie the uni knot. Hope this helps

I learned this about three weeks ago myself, the hard way

Just tie it on with a constrictor knot or clove hitch knot.

Y'all sure have a lot of troubles with braid that I have never experienced. I usually just back my braid with cheaper braid of a different color. I've never heard of braid slipping on the reel before.

The old 6500 I'm currently working with had 300 yards of spider wire on it with no backer and hauled in a good many catfish with nary a problem. Bass too. What has changed. Slicker braid?

Years ago power pro put some foam tape in their spool box that I liked so much I still use it today. Just go to hardware store and buy a small roll. It only takes about a 1/4", tie your knot against the tape and your ready to go.

I use 4-5 wraps of mono around the reel spool then tie on the braid with a uni-uni knot the fill the reel with the braid.

You are fortunate. Braid has slipped on a reel spool since it came out many years ago. Mono backing or tape are the two most common ways to fix the slipping problem.

Why mono backing? It is slicker than braid, isn't it?

Braid will spin on the reel if you don't use backing.
