Not sure if this is the right place but i just bought a 2015 Blue Wave bay boat but it doesn't have the built in rod holders. I was gonna build one to mount in the rear seat spot but theres no rear seat spot as it has the live well right there, is there anything y'all know of that i can use to mount 2 rods off the direct back and 2 more from the side? Thanks

Install some of the stainless 30 degree gimbal mount rod holders off the back, and a couple of drift masters off the side. I like side rails, and you can mount rod holders wherever and when ever you desire. If you don't like side rails, driftmasters are a good choice of rod holder as well as bee readys.

Will give those a look. I found a couple i like that i can mount to the tie down cleats and i might have to drill and mount a couple of those off the back. Hate drilling into new boat. Lol

I had driftmasters, but changed to Bee Readys since they are low profile and don't get in the way like the driftmasters did. You can mount them directly to the rail if you have one or you can install a small base in each corner and have up to 8 rod holders with only two bases.

Thanks for the tips everybody. Thinking about mounting a couple flush mount ones of the back and 2 either Bee Readys or similar off each side. That should take care of most situations.

I would mount a couple flush mount in the gunnels and then use the drift master T-Bar, if you dont like the driftmaster style bases you can always put Bee-Readys on that same T-Bar. Also check out Hills Rod Holders, he has some pretty cool set ups that go into seat bases. And Extreme Fishing Concepts.

I have bass boat bases from Extreme Fishing Concepts and love them. I did not have to drill into my bass boat. They hook to your cleats and then I just tied a rope loop around my cleats to tie my anchor lines to.

Think I'm gonna end up mounting 2 flush mount rod holder in the gunnels on both sides of the back, then 1 BeeReady on each side about 2-3 feet up the back and another BeeReady on each side up front. Each BeeReady will be a 2 rod holder. Also on the BeeReadys, can you use them for trolling to?

Here's one more to look at that I bought and installed last week, based on a recommendation from a TFF'r on another forum. Nothing against the BeeReadys, but the Hi-Tek holder worked better for me for the one up by the trolling motor. The top piece for the holders actually pivot and turn which helps when I get ready to deploy or pull the trolling motor up. If the BeeReadys work the same, then it may be a toss up.

What keeps the Bee Ready from chewing up the underside of the rod handle. it looks like it's sitting on bare metal.

It is super slick stainless steel. It has not damaged any of my rods and I have used both cork and EVA.

I bought 4 2 rod beereadys, mounted the first one on the side gunnel and these are useless for trolling. The rod just rolls around inside there. I emailed beereadys.com before I bought them and asked them if they were strong enough to hold up to trolling and he said yes. Not in a really good mood right now. I went with the beereadys because they were low profile and looked good.
