I am taking my wife and daughter to Lake Fork on Father's Day weekend....neither one can use baitcasters. I probably will have them use either spincast or spinning reel setups. We will be leaving out of Lake Fork Marina. I am not familiar with running the lake. Suggestions for areas to fish for white bass close to our ramp? Slabs, Little george type baits? Thanks for any help. Living in west Texas, Lake Fork is a bit intimidating for me.

One trick that helps is taking a wooden broom handles with you and either banging the side or the floor of your boat. It seems to attract them.
Also if they are on the surface feeding slapping the water with your lure or rod tip seems to keep them in your area.

Thanks for any help. Living in west Texas, Lake Fork is a bit intimidating for me. Most of the road beds are holding sand bass. If you're not familiar with running the lake you may want to trailer to one of the public ramps to launch. LFM is my favorite place on the lake but running out of there us a bit tricky if you're not familiar. There are quite a few stumps between their cove and the main lake. Go to the 515 East public ramp and launch. The old 515 road is right there by that ramp and you can fish up & down it and catch all the sandies you want. If the south wind is too bad try the old 515 West road bed. You can launch right there near it too and is better protected from south wind. The 2946 road bed is full if them too. You can launch right on top if it. Jigging spoons and Little George type baits will catch them. Do yourself a favor and mash the barbs flat on your baits. You can get the fish off the hook faster plus if they stick one in you when they rear back to cast it'll be a lot easier to get out.

My thanks to all of you that responded. Indeed, some sound advice from TFF members. Thank you. Now, hopefully my wife and daughter will have some fun....all catch and release as neither like to eat fish.

Please keep three limits of those rodent fish and give them to some needy person. Easy to take a big ice chest and throw them in as you catch them. I'm sure you must know someone that would take them.

You can go towards the dam in the evening around 6-7 and just look for boats. They come up schooling a-rig and rattle trap will load the boat. I was also using a chart. and white swimbait. Let it sink to the bottom and reel as slow as possible.

Crank up about five turns and then free spool back to the bottom. Hang on tight.

As you come out of LFM head south about a 1/4 mile to Italy sock. Ridge that comes up to about 24'. They have been stacked along that ridge. Also when you hook a small white reel it in slow and hold on.....

They're schooling near the last turn in the Glade Creek boat Lane. Crank the 'inside trees' with moving baits to get bit.

Sandbass are loaded on a lot of deep structure up and down the lake. The main point between lil and big Caney, 515 west road bed, public hump, and pump station are all holding schools of sandbass. The most populated area of both fish and boats is where the above posters are talking about south of Lake Fork Marina. It's called horseshoe ridge. The key is graphing until you find a big enough school to whack on em for a while. Best baits are umbrella rigs, small swimbaits, little georges, KT spoons, and crankbaits. Good luck and have a blast!
