My dad and I went to Medina last weekend and we caught around 45-50 fish, nothing big. Of the numerous fish that we caught, we had more than a couple dozen hit our crankbaits coming up out of the water on the retrieve. We'd crank the tops of tress, and when the bait was coming up it'd get to less than a foot under the water, a foot away from the boat and then they'd smoke it. We actually dialed in a pattern that way. My dad even cranked his bait all the way back, it floated to the surface, he looked away and then a fish ate his bait like a topwater. And no, we couldn't get a bite on a topwater bait.

Anyone ever got dialed into an unusual bite?!

That's why they make Wake Crankbaits. They were very popular 2 years ago. Maybe they will be in "in season" again this year! banana

I thought about that! But I looked in the box and I only had a bluegill colored wakebait. Plus, they were feeding on tiny shad.

Yes. Also you'd be surprised when they're feeding like that how little color matters. Just last weekend I caught schooling fish chashing 2" shad. They ate crank colors from shad to fire tiger.

Excellent way to catch them through the brush. Pull it down, let it float up within sight and pull it down again. You will see the flash and set the hook.
