I'm looking for a few tips/info from anyone who has fished the lake before. The family and I will be spending the week in Beavers Bend next week and it was decided on to bring the boat this time to see about some bass fishing. I was thinking about getting a guide for a half a day and that be the only fishing I do, but the wife said to just bring the boat instead as long as I'm back before lunch each day. With as many times as I've been up there, I've never been on the lake.....I've only fly fished the river. I will be putting in at the ramps on Carson's Creek Road since they are the closest to where we are staying.

I've done some research about the lake but I haven't been able to find much information. I know it's a clear water lake with Smallies, Black, and Spotted.....with some reports/info saying that they are still on beds..???

I would think it's not much different than what I'm used to on the Northeast Texas lakes, but I really don't have any idea where to go on the lake and if it is different, what to do.

Thanks in advance!

Right on, thanks! I've actually never caught a Smallie before so I'm looking forward to it.

I have cabins here and guide on the lake. Try topwaters early. Try a spook or a rico on the bluffs. Look for schooling bass early. Otter creek is a good start. Also good is a yellow magic or a chug bug with an orange belly. When the sun gets up try shaky head. Can catch deep fish on a spoon also.

My first trip to Broken Bow was at the first of May. We caught fish in 1-30 foot of water fishing wat red zoom finesse worms on drop shot rigs. The fish bit real good from sun up-11 then 3-dark. We caught a mixed bag of bass 30-45 of them everyday. (smallmouth, spots, largemouth) We fished all over the lake. Top water early and late in the day. Also in the shade in the middle of the day. LIGHT LINE IS THE KEY!!!!

Smallie virgin! Lol It's a blast man. The clear water and light line adds a whole new dynamic to it. Definitely different than the slop were used to fishing in.

Go over to the outlet and throw a watermelon-colored jerk bait. Caught 4 LMB in about 10 min a few weeks ago.

Are you using that PB&J in a Senko cut in half for a Ned Rig? That was all the rage on Table Rock last year. You couldn't find one for sale anywhere.

Guess I'll be putting some new line on the reels since I'm setup for the Northeast Texas area lakes. Thanks for the info.
