I've always just used the basic lead head and any sort of small plastic. I know there's a ton of different jigs. Just curious on what is the newest best one

Ok I'll check them out. Is it a online only purchase? What about the rattle jig, I've used them bass fishing and they worked

Go ahead and go to the plastics section and get some slab bandits too!

My version of the truth.

Occasionally one jig will out fish all others, but, not often enough to really matter much.
It's the jigger not the jig most of the time. I like some plastics better than others because of the size, shape or toughness, not usually the color.

When fishing I start with whatever jig I finished with last trip and change when I get hung and lose it or it wears out too much to stay on the hook.

While I truly believe this I still buy new jigs and have drawers full of stuff I will never use up. But they sure are pretty.

Can't go wrong with some black emerald shiners from Thermocline Lures.

Ernest is right on. Color doesn't matter for the most part. I believe the jighead weight and overall size of the bait are more important than color. Lately a lot of fish have been hitting the jig on the fall so a lighter jighead gets more bites if your patient with it.
