Heard a story about the owner of a very well known and high quality rod company showing an angler how just llightly stepping on a rod weakens a blank. Then tying his line to a a stationary object and making an average hookset and the rod snapped.

I think we (anglers) are a lot of the time partly at fault for a lot of the blank failures we experience.

I had 5 Omen Black's and have broken all but one of them. Casting, boat flipping, and on the hook set. The one I haven't broke is a spinning rod and that's only because I don't use it much. Yes, breaking 1 maybe 2 might be my fault but but 4. I think not. They all broke close to the same place. About 6 inches from the tip. I called 13Fishing and they told me that I had to have a receipt for each and all of them for them to do anything for me. I will never own another. There are a lot of other rods out that are in the same price range I think are better. Phenix rods for one. Lews speed sticks is another. Dobyns has the Fury line out now. So goodbye to 13Fishing for good.
