I would say athens, simply because it is a smaller lake and i feel it is easier to narrow down the water you are fishing. I havent been on RR much though, and it is a farther drive for me

Two or three club tournaments at the one boat ramp on Athens on Saturday. 5 Alive and Fielder Clubs that I am sure of. If there are others please chime in. Trying to figure out how early we will need to launch.

RR was fishing OK, not great but Ok, before this most recent rain, haven't been since. There are many ramps closed which means the ones that are open will be very busy. It has become Lewisville North up here during the summer with all the pleasure boaters.
See you on the lake and have a great day!

May and June are two of the only months that I have confidence on Ray Roberts. I haven't been able to get up there this year, but in years past, it fishes well right about now.

Fielder moved it to Athens. Facebook page shows it. It is 6:00-3:00. It is a paper tournament, no fish brought back to ramp.

Ray Bob is decent right now. Fish the willows on points up shallow early, then back out to 15'. If the bite stops, hit some of the brush piles or timber with minnows or jigs and catch some crappie in 15' as well.
Athens is good year around. Just fish slow with soft plastics in the deeper grass and keep you a topwater close by for the schooling action out off shore behind you.

Problems for each lake for me, going to RR I have to go 635 to 35 and deal with monster traffic and road work. I can get to Athens in hour 15 min. max. because I only fish through the week and I don't have to deal with tournaments. Having said that, RR is definitely the better fishery for numbers and species especially bass and crappie. If it weren't for the traffic and construction I had much rather fish RR. Have fun on which ever you decide, just think, you could be a roofer lol.
I am a Senager. (Senior teenager) I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 50 years later. I get an allowance every month. I have PU truck and a bass boat, I am blessed. Conscience never acquits, it either accuses or excuses.

I live 20 min from the Ramp at Roberts, have fished it for 20 years, and I will drive to Athens in a heart beat if I have the time. I do catch plenty of fish at Roberts but I love to fish grass!
See you on the lake and have a great day!
