I live in Stephenville so I'm not far from either. But I've never been on either. Any help would be great, mainly looking at taking kids fishing.

Have you tried Mineral Wells state park? I used to go there years back and the fishing was good. Might be a good option with the kids.

Mineral Wells is our next camping trip so we will be fishing it.
What's the fish to go after on proctor?

Crappie fishing Proctor is always a good bet in Spring, Fall, and Winter. A lot depends on if your bank bound are have a boat. Trolling the island for stripper is normally successful; there is also a plentiful supply of whites. Catfishing is also great depending on time of year. There are or should I say were excellent fishing piers at all three camping areas as well as the dam day use. Once the lake gets back to normal there should be some excellent fishing for the several years. If your planning on camping at Proctor I would recommend Copperas Creek camp ground.
