Right now you might look at hitting the surf or the jetties. With all the fresh water pouring in, Galveston is pretty fresh. SLP, Rollover, the jetties, and the beach are going to be the most productive this summer.
If you walk out into the surf (need a calm or light wind day, preferably a little north in it) and don't immediately catch something pretty quick, keep moving around. Some great catches are coming on topwaters.. skitter walks and spook juniors, and when the bite subsides switching to a rat tailed soft plastic or a suspending bait like a Mirrolure mirrodine or 51mr.
