I'm confused. Was reading the live blog from Bass Fest and ran across this. What is this all about?

Culling down?
June 8, 2016 3:34pm
Dave Lefebre had a hard decision to make. He has a limit but what does he do now. He has a 13" spot and a 14" Largemouth. He showed true sportsmanship by culling down and tossing the largemouth. Way to go Dave.

Update by Bassmaster Marshal Bobby Hogan

Maybe since the spotted length requirement is 12 in min and largemouth is 14 in min? If his largemouth was border keeper or not he didn't want to chance it? Confusing

Interesting...

Are they not allowed culling beams? Keep the heavier fish and roll on, unless as stated above that the LMB was borderline 14".

You can kill a fly with a sledgehammer,
But do you really need to son???

Or just the opposite, a borderline fish in the spot that was still technically alive and cullable. Maybe he is being a sportsman that doesn't want to toss a fish that is sure to die?

Give a weak fish a chance to live by culling it. Take the .2 weight decrease instead of dead fish penalty. Lot of times those fish will do better in their own environment if they are weak

Ok, official answer. Not sure of how BASS was going to measure a LMB. 14" "Liners", 3 of them. Kept the safe for sure spots.
