I hit Pool yesterday and decided that since the boat was running well I'd try Grapevine today. That was a good decision. I caught around 75 Sandies today up to 15 inches from 7 to 10:30 am. The first hour and a half I was on the fish by myself. Eventually there were several more boats that joined me. Everyone was cool except this one idiot that was trolling through the fish. This one guy who fishes Grapevine all the time tried to explain it to the guy, but like the guy in the movie said, "You can't fix stupid!" I brought 16 home to clean. The fish were busting the surface but at no point did they cover an area. It's still a bit early for that I'm guessing. Unlike the fish on Joe Pool yesterday these fish were fat and only about three were undersized.

That's great. I'm glad to hear you caught some good sized ones at Grapevine. I went out the other evening but could only find smaller sandies. I guess I need to get out there early one morning and take a look.

You should have been here yesterday...

Is Murrell park ramp still open?

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

There were no fish at the aerator today just 3in. shad. Caught all our sandbass at the Island, the big ones came drifting live bait. Took home 25 14 to 16 inchers. Catfish in 3 to 6 foot on live shad with cover.

I was fishing near the island too and saw those same guys trolling. Before that I was fishing on the north side of the lake and the fish were biting. My girlfriend and I were catching them every cast and those same guys just kept trolling back and forth instead of stopping. Even the girlfriend wondered why those guys didn't stop and catch them like we were.

I was out there again this morning and it was tough. There was a little schooling going on in shallow water next to the island, but it didn't last long. I never could find any feeding fish after that. It was a pretty boring day. I met Outfitter Nomore. It was good to meet you, James. I hope you caught more than we did.

I think me and the wife are headed out there tomorrow when I get out of work (finally!). Any suggestions on where to fish other than what has been said already? I'm new to the area and I've been dying to catch these sand bass I keep hearing about!

The shad are roaming and so are the whites. We have had to run and gun just hitting the humps and wind blown shore until you find some active fish. We ended with 35 keepers on Thursday. With the South wind most came on North shore from Rockledge to Dryer Slough 12 to 26 ft.
