Does anybody know of a place with free access to the lake? My boat is just an 8 foot flat boat so I don't need an actual boat ramp. Just need a place where I can park close enough to the water to carry the boat and gear over to it. If anybody knows a spot, I'd appreciate the tip.

None. All accesses are parks that charge.

If you do not mind paying the state park is the best deal.
For 70 dollars you get a 1 year pass.
Only the sought side is open due to flooding,
but with a small boat you can do well in this lake.
You can reach the closed areas from the water.

Agree with Blooper. The area around the south ramp has plenty of room for you to do what you want without having to use the ramp. See lots of people do that. There is fish to be caught in the cove of the south ramp also. The 70 dollars is well worth the price of admission. The pass also gets you into all State parks, besides if you pay the fee at Lynn's a couple of times you will see what everyone means.
