Have been wanting to fish this lake since seeing a Honey Hole Outdoors show about it so finally ended up there Sat. Lake looks good and there are/was tons of different things to fish! Especially since I'm used to cypress trees and more cypress trees lol here in the Bossier City area. Graphed and fished some deeper stuff(15-20') and had some hits but never hooked up on a c-rig and t-rig so maybe sand bass? Decided to run up to the 1971 bridge(lake is pretty well marked though I did get confused on the north side so went across mid lake where the "no ski area" was and used the south side but maybe that's the only way to do it??). Tried around the bridge but several guys were tied up under it so didn't bother them stayed outside fishing a hole near the first piling. Something was busting everywhere up there and while I saw them a few times it didn't look like bass but the blowups and chasing sure did! Tried topwater, chatterbait, rattletrap, spinnerbait and nothing hit so after about 45 mins of that I left. Fished a bunch of a really good looking docks but no hits. Ended up back at the ramp I used(near the dam) and punched some reeds and caught a nice 4lb 2oz bass!! smile I did see a sign before I launched that listed the slot as 14-21" so she wouldn't have helped in a tourney.

One question- up at the 1971 bridge there is a launch on the southern end. I was fishing right at the bridge so 1844' per google away from it. I had 3 different boats come from down lake all the way to where I was and then turn to go to that ramp. I had a marker buoy out and everything and 1 boat almost hit that. I am talking less than 30' away. While they "slowed down to idle" I don't get WHY with like thousands of yards of open water around me that they were choosing to do this?? Is this a boat row and even if so still doesn't explain it? Like previous discussions about this pictures would go a LONG ways and trust me I wish I did take some but after leaving my phone on the seat it had overheated and wouldn't work. All 3 did it within about 10 mins as well. I talked with the TF&W people later about it(they stopped to check my license and see if I had fish) and they said they didn't think that was "Ok" but without pics they couldn't do anything. I was hoping maybe someone who fishes the lake on here could maybe explain that area and "if" I was doing something wrong??

There are stumps out in that open area that you describe. The boat lane runs directly with the channel above and below bridge. Then at bridge it runs parallel toward the Dotson boat ramp.

Other than them not slowing down while passing you, they were in the correct spot.

YEP that's how it is.

The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?
