I'm confused, this was labeled the easiest lake to catch fish in.

Honestly hit the lake early and late and hang near the dam and those fish school like crazy. Have a KT spoon tied on for when they go subsurface and you can catch a lot of fish on Athens.

I went Saturday about 6:15 pm and had 14 fish by dark with one about 23 inches. I do not see why this would work all day long. We fished Texas rigged worms (red shad) near points in the 10-15 foot range. Once we got too far away from a point we moved to the next point. I used a 3/16 ounce weight to keep the work from sinking to far into the grass. Just keep the trolling motor going until you catch a fish and you will catch several in one place.

Fished Athens yesterday and only had on blow up on a frog. We did end up catching fish but found them schooled up. Caught 2 first thing in the morning then did not catch another for 6 hours. We found them with the sand bass and caught 30 in the next hour. About half were bass and half were sand bass.

I've always had luck around the dam and island by the dam this time of year. Top waters when they come to the top and a c-rig when they go down. Also punch the grass around the boat ramp. Good luck.
