 2002 Trailblazer brake light problem

Neighbor was having a problem with one side going on and off. If off he could hit the lenses and it would come on. Now he has none. switch is good and fuses are fine. He has not checked trailer hook up. He has checked and replaced boards and bulbs. There is no power to the bulb in either side. Internet search came up with switch/junction on steering column. Any ideas?

If I remember correctly, they were bad about the connectors at the tail light boards corroding! Be sure and check ALL fuses! Check back and I'll pull up a wiring diagram!

If I remember correctly, they were bad about the connectors at the tail light boards corroding! Be sure and check ALL fuses! Check back and I'll pull up a wiring diagram!
that may have been the problem when he had the one not working on occasion but now he has no power back there at all.

If no power to lamps then as stated check "all" stop lamp fuses. There is a 25 amp ST/LP fuse#12 in the underhood fuse block and it is before the brake switch. After the switch there is a 10 amp VEH CHMSL fuse#16 (high mount stop lamp) and a 15 amp VEH STOP fuse#34 in the rear fuse block (under left middle seat). It's not uncommon for the high mount lamp to go bad internally. If fuses are good then check the stop lamp switch. Switch is mounted on brake pedal. Orange wire is power in from the ST/LP fuse and should be hot with key on or off. The white wire is power out when pedal is pressed and goes to the CHMSL and STOP fuses then to the lamps. Also there is a recall for the circuit boards and bulbs out for that vehicle. It was released a long time ago so most likely it has already been done.

Was the system checked with a 12 volt test light? Where does the test light stop working? Not sure if he used a test light or meter. Knowing this guy it was a meter. He is pretty thorough. Use to be a licensed HVAC tech. He said he had power all the way to the fuse box under the seat. I sent him what you wrote. Have not talked to him since Saturday. I will see him tomorrow night and get an update.

Turned out that it was the switch. Not sure how he tested it but he said it worked when he did. I was still recovering from foot surgery or I would have helped and we would figured it out sooner.
