The warranty on my Xpress expires in May, so I'm beginning to look at extended warranty options. What are y'all doing on this front?

So far I've had great luck with the little Yamaha F70 outboard, but I know how things can go south in a hurry. Yamaha has sent me an offer on an extended warranty program with no deductible. I'm just not sure, yet, if I want to shell out an additional $500 a yr for that piece of mind.

The limited research I've done would see me spend about $4-5k for a new power head should it be needed, and I can get a rider on my insurance policy to cover the lower unit for $50a year.

Anyway, just curious to see what y'all have done, costs involved, and any other information y'all could provide that might be helpful?

Thanks

I'm in the process of re-powering and will more than likely purchase and extended warranty, depending what it covers. Personally it gives me peace of mind for the extended time. Will I use it, I hope not but I have it if I need it.

Pat,
What you repose ring with? Stay away from those black motors. Nothing but problems with them down here.

We work with a couple very good after market warranty companies. What we find is that contacting them to get a prior approval is a main thing for warranty companies. Dealers will often get a prion approval even from the manufacturer before running up the bill. Nobody likes to pay for a repair after it's done if they were not involved on the front end.
Thank you,
Ken
